Student Positions

Each term or year depending on availability, the VRC hires student workers as Catalogers and Digital Studio Engineers. Art History Majors are hired as catalogers, while Studio majors are hired as Engineers. Both have very different tasks that provide assistance to the Librarian, the entire Art & Art History Department and the College at large. 

If you are interested in applying for either position you must:

  • Fill out 
  • Have interview

Student Assistant--Digital Studio Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Visual Resources Library with digitizing, editing, organizing, and archiving images and media
  • Observe and edit any visual discrepancies 
  • Possible film editing in Final Cut Pro

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • When applicable, assist others in VRC
  • Maintain analog collection

Qualifications:

  • Art Studio Major with Art History experience
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Research experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Good judgment and communication skills
  • Goal oriented
  • Must be comfortable working with software programs and be interested in learning new systems and software.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom
  • Final Cut Pro
  • JSTOR

Pay: $10.25
P/T, flexible, maximum 4 hrs. weekly

Student Assistant--Cataloger

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Visual Resources Library with researching information on visual, cataloging and adding correlating text in a database
  • Observe and edit any text discrepancies
  • Use web related thesauri to produce standardized schemas for images
  • Review copyright status for media

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • When applicable, assist others in VRC
  • Maintain analog collection

Qualifications:

  • Art History Major
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Research experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Good judgment and communication skills
  • Goal oriented
  • Must be comfortable working with software programs and be interested in learning new systems and software.

Desired Qualifications:

  • JSTOR
  • FileMaker Pro or database input
  • Microsoft Office
  • Web oriented research

Pay: $10.25

P/T, flexible, maximum 6 hrs. weekly
