Gloria Victis: The Conservation of Marius-Jean-Antonin Merci茅鈥檚 Bronze Monument to the Fallen

This exhibition celebrates the recent conservation of Marius-Jean-Antonin Merci茅鈥檚 bronze statue of 鈥淕loria Victis,鈥� or 鈥淕lory to the Fallen.鈥� Merci茅 made this statue to honor his fallen countrymen in the Franco-Prussian War. The statue represents a winged allegorical figure of Fame, who carries to glory a dying French soldier, his broken sword a symbol of French defeat. Conservation performed by Meghan Abercrombie 鈥�15, working under the direction of conservator Brian Howard.

The 暗网禁区 Faculty Brass Ensemble (Jeffrey Wohlbach, trumpet; Tyler Ogilvie, horn; Gregory Strohman, trombone) performs works for brass trio, including 鈥淟incoln Songbook鈥� by Doug Hill and Pierre Gabaye鈥檚 鈥淩ecreation,鈥� featuring faculty pianist Jennifer Blyth.
