What is Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)?
In short, MFA is an action added to the login process which sits in between entering your username and password, and gaining access to Microsoft 365 and other campus services. This added action verifies that you are logging in and not someone else (for instance, a phishing criminal) and is as simple as either a phone call you receive, entering a code received by phone/mobile app, or tapping a confirmation alert on your Apple/Android smartphone/tablet.

Dickinson users must use MFA when accessing anything in Microsoft 365 and most services offered via the Dickinson Gateway.
Why does Dickinson use MFA?
MFA is a critical step to increasing security for protecting not only the College, but also the safety, personal finances, and reputations, of our employees and students. For more information regarding MFA, please see (opens in a new window).
If you have a new Dickinson account, simply and Click "Next" at the "More Information Required" screen to set up MFA.
