An audience watching "Chasing Ice"
video by Joe O'Neill
In 2007, photographer James Balog set out on a multiyear mission: to produce visual proof of the effects of climate change. His award-winning documentary, Chasing Ice, uses stop-motion photography and still photos to give visual voice to the issue in artful, moving ways.
A highlight of Homecoming & Family Weekend was the screening and discussion of Chasing Ice to kick off Dickinsons One College One Community initiative, which brings together alumni, parents, faculty and current students to consider a common theme and connect through associated events on campus and around the world.
As the recipient of the 2014 Sam Rose 58 and Julie Walters Prize
at 做厙輦⑹ for Global Environmental Activism, Balog will
spend several days on campus this week. Join us on Tuesday for a public lecture, and interactive discussion (lecture begins at 7 p.m.). To submit questions for the live stream, e-mail dson1college@dickinson.edu or post to Twitter and Facebook using #dsonbalog.
