There is so much to learn about Dickinson, and my hope is that I can be a resource to you throughout your college search. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with students from all over the world eager to experience a liberal arts and sciences education.
About Me
International education has played a significant role in my life. I grew up hosting exchange students with my family before I ultimately spent my senior year of high school abroad in Belgium. I, then, received my BA from Arcadia University in international studies, with minors in history and Spanish. During my undergraduate career, I spent two semesters abroad in both Stirling, Scotland, UK, and Guayaquil, Ecuador. I also participated in two short-term, faculty-led programs in Singapore and Guatemala. From there, I went on to earn my TESOL certification and taught high school English in Thailand and elementary school English in Japan.
Upon my return to the United States, I transitioned into higher education and worked in study abroad for two different universities. I became involved in NAFSA, IACAC, various state international education programming organizations, Gilman advising and selection committees, Fulbright advising, and Fulbright ETA preparation. I obtained my MS in education from Drexel University, with foci on international education and learning sciences. During my graduate education, I participated in a short-term, faculty-led program on sustainability in Israel, and a sustainability conference in Egypt.
Wanting to pivot a bit from working with domestic students going abroad to international students coming into the US, I came to Dickinson! I love working with passionate students from around the globe and helping them learn their respective fields through new cultural and academic lenses.
In my spare time at home in Central Pennsylvania, I enjoy crafting and being around my animals.
Supplemental Essay Support
We know essay questions can be tricky—so I took a crack at answering one of our supplemental questions myself! Let me know if I can be of additional help as you work on your application materials.
What are the qualities that make you proud to be you?
Empathy. I think, for me, empathy is at the core of everything. You can’t connect with anyone if you don’t respect their emotional experiences that make them human.
Why Dickinson?
Dickinson is a very warm, welcoming, and community-oriented environment where students are encouraged to explore their passions as well as be open to trying new things. I love the interdisciplinary approach of liberal-arts colleges. I appreciate the connections made between classes in fields that feel worlds apart. I, too, attended a liberal-arts institution and haven’t looked back. Students go on from Dickinson to become globally engaged and aware citizens making an impact on their communities and beyond.
