I am excited to connect with you, learn what you are hoping to get out of your college experience and help you learn more about the opportunities at Dickinson.
Why Dickinson?
I chose to attend Dickinson because of the way my admissions counselor, Kate Guertin, made the school stand out in such a supportive way throughout the application process. I applied in the fall of 2020 through a virtual world due to the pandemic, and throughout the process, Kate addressed my inquiries very quickly with detailed responses. I felt very supported, and I even committed to Dickinson two days before I visited campus. That support from Dickinson, which started in the enrollment process, absolutely continued throughout my four years as a student, and it has carried on now as I have started as a staff member. This commitment to providing a caring, individualized support system for each Red Devil is a staple of the Dickinson experience.
I graduated with a psychology major and a minor in history. As a student, I was an admissions operations student employee, an Admissions Fellow and a member of the Liberty Cap Society. I also was a student ambassador on the Alumni Council, secretary of the Psychology Club and I played club volleyball all four years. I studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, for the spring semester of my junior year and I lived with a host family. Within the community of Carlisle, I volunteered with the local fire department.
Supplemental Essay Support
We know essay questions can be tricky—so I took a crack at answering one of our supplemental questions myself! Let me know if I can be of additional help as you work on your application materials.
What is something new that you'd like to experience, learn or try that might surprise your friends and family?
I would appreciate the opportunity to continue to improve my public speaking through a speech or debate contest. I enjoy public speaking and giving presentations, though it may surprise even my close friends and family if I choose to participate at the competitive level to continue to improve.
A Few of My Favorite Aspects of Campus and Carlisle
- Some essential campus activities include seeing a production at the Weiss Center for the Arts, attending Red Devil athletics matches at Biddle Field and the Kline Center and going to any MOB event.
- My favorite restaurants in town include Pitt Street Station, Pizza Grille, Misenos, 113 Social, Taqueria Laurita, North Hanover Grille and The Carlisle Diner.
- I love grabbing a coffee at Denim Coffee, a Carlisle shop located right downtown and on campus at The Quarry.
As your regional counselor, I will be a resource to you throughout your college process—be in touch anytime!  As a recent Dickinson graduate, I can speak very highly of the college's commitment to supporting you as a student and providing you with a fabulous education. I look forward to meeting you!
